Passive Tree Irrigation Project

In partnership with University of Melbourne and Monash City Council, this pilot study involved the construction of water harvesting and passive tree irrigation system, covering an area of 10km2.

This project was novel in its very early use of the awarded Monash Kerb inlet, a precast kerb and channel unit which utilises a design inspired by aerofoils to reduce the collection of sediment and leaf litter. Stormwater was diverted through these inlets, into buried tanks composed of Stormtech arches.

Main Scope:

• Installation of Monash Kerb Inlets
• Stormwater filtration pit
• Installation of Stormtech tanks

Client: Monash City Council
Contract value: $150,000
