Amelia Crescent Drainage Improvements
Contek was engaged by Manningham City Council to perform flood mitigation works at Amelia Crescent, Doncaster East. Inadequate existing stormwater infrastructure combined with the natural fall of the area, meant that persistent flooding had struck adjacent houses for many years.
Contek was charged to excavate and install a Humes "StormTrap", a large water retention system composed of six precast units on a concrete slab. This installation, paired with a major upgrade of surrounding pits and pipes, have removed the risk of flooding in the area, rated to mitigate a 1-in-100 year rain event.
With the works requiring a full road closure as well as occurring in private property and easements, Contek ensured careful communication and consideration with all residents and the thorough reinstatement of all affected areas.
Contek was proud to complete this project on time and budget, leaving behind only content residents who no longer need to dread rain in the forecast.
Main Scope:
• Excavation in excess of 1.5m deep, navigating a litany of services
• Installation of 6-module "StormTrap"
• Installation of high capacity grated side entry pits
• Thorough reinstatement of affected properties, including fencing, landscaping and driveways to resident's satisfaction
