Egan Reserve Merri Creek – Path Reconstruction

Contek was tasked to rebuild an existing shared path along the banks of the Merri Creek in Coburg which was frequently submerged after small rain events. The project consisted of the installation of a new concrete footpath structure, rock beaching retaining walls and abutting paths which were raised and would be less susceptible to minor flood events. Constructed during lockdown 2.0, this project was under heavy scrutiny from the many path users taking their 2 hours of exercise each day. Working under Melbourne Water requirements, with a constant audience and fluctuating creek levels, it was extremely important to follow our comprehensive Environmental Management Plan to prevent any pollution entering the Merri Creek. Along the way Contek was able to value add to the project for the client and reduce the instances of inundation by modifying the design in consultation and without adding any cost.

Main Scope:

• Demolition and stripping of the site
